Surfing is one of those things that can only be described to an extent; the rest of it, you just have to experience for yourself. For a seemingly physically intensive activity, surfers report that it can be meditative and therapeutic since it allows them to clear their minds and focus on the present moment. It's peaceful and calming, provides a sense of escape from the demands of daily life, and instills a sense of community and camaraderie that comes with the friendships we build with other surfers.   Find a beginner-friendly beach Look for a beach with small, slow-moving waves suitable for beginners. You can also check with a local surf shop or surf school to get recommendations for good beginner spots.   Get the right equipment You will need an appropriate surfboard for your size and skill level. If you are just starting, you may want to use a larger, more stable board that is easier to balance. You will also need a wetsuit to protect you from the cold water and a leash to keep you connected to your surfboard.   Learn the basics and practice your skills There are several skills you’ll need to practice and master in order to be good at surfing, some of which are listed as follows: Paddling: Paddling is the most important skill in surfing. You will need to learn how to use your hands and arms to paddle efficiently and effectively to get out to the lineup and catch waves. Catching a wave: To catch a wave, you will need to paddle hard to get up to speed and position yourself in the right spot to catch the wave as it breaks. You will also need to learn how to judge the size and power of the wave and how to read the surf conditions. Standing up: Once you catch a wave, you must pop up quickly and smoothly onto your feet. To do this, you must push up with your hands, bring your back foot to the surfboard's tail, and then stand up with your front foot. Balance: Balancing on a surfboard requires good core stability and leg strength. You will need to practice shifting your weight and using your feet to control the surfboard as you ride the wave. Turning: To turn the surfboard, you need to shift your weight and use your feet to steer the board in the desired direction. You can turn by leaning your body or using your back foot to apply pressure to the board's tail.   Practice safety As a crazy Russian YouTuber always said, safety is number one priority! Remember to always surf in a safe area and follow all local rules and regulations. To be extra safe, wear a leash and a wetsuit, and use the knowledge you’ve gained thus far to avoid hazards and stay safe in the water. With that, we're ending this guide on surfing; we hope this has been helpful to you, and until next time, good luck!

If you’re an adrenaline junky, sky diving has to be on your list of sports to try! Falling out of a moving plane 10,000 feet in the sky with the earth below you, it's a feeling that nothing else can truly match. However, it's an admittedly scary thing to do. Even though that rush is part of what you're looking for with sky diving, you can never be too careful when preparing for stuff like this! In that respect, we have exactly what you need to get started with skydiving in this article. So, let's begin: Getting Started Your mileage may vary, but I feel that any new hobby or skill is easiest to learn and keep up when I'm doing it with a friend! The same is true for skydiving; getting a friend to come along with you can make things that much easier. Alternatively, you can consider tandem jumping: being strapped to the instructor and diving with them. This is one of the most popular ways to skydive and is ideal for beginners as it puts an experienced instructor in charge of the jump, minimizing the risk of incidents. Tandem Jumping The procedure involves the student and instructor getting together for the jump, with only the instructor wearing a (much larger than normal) parachute. This parachute is necessary to support the weight of both divers. Upon jumping, you will note that the instructor deploys a small drogue parachute, which remains deployed from the start to the end of the dive. The drogue serves to reduce the terminal velocity of the two divers, which would be far too much (about 190 mph) when two divers are strapped together and needs to be reduced to about 120 mph. Apart from this, the experience should be quite similar to typical solo skydiving. In the end, the instructor (or the student) pulls the main cord and deploys the entire parachute, followed by the pair landing on the ground together. What You Can Expect to Pay For tandem jumping, as discussed earlier, you can expect to pay about $150-$200. Tandem jumping is crucial for getting the initial experience needed to learn and eventually become a licensed skydiver. After tandem jumping, students can start preparing for the Accelerated Free Fall technique. This involves taking lessons on the ground and then making AFF jumps with two instructors that hold the student as they all fall. This form of guided skydiving combined with the lesson costs about $290 per jump and is required to get experience in the beginning. After passing this stage, the student graduates to jumping with just one instructor and then with no instructors. Having passed 20 solo jumps in total, along with tests and other criteria, the student is granted a license from the USPA (United States Parachuting Association. With a license, the cost of jumping falls significantly, requiring only about $20 per jump and letting you choose your landing zone with almost complete freedom.

Running fast may seem like one of those things you're either born with or not, but you may be surprised to find that not to be the case! You can improve your running speed, stamina, and form considerably and perform much better than expected. So, let's get into how you can do that: The fundamentals of running These are the aspects that you should be focusing on mastering if you haven’t already: Warm-up: Before running, it's important to warm up your muscles with some light stretching and dynamic exercises. This can help to reduce the risk of injury and improve your performance. Posture: Good running posture involves keeping your head up, shoulders relaxed, and arms bent at a 90-degree angle. Foot strike: When running, it's important to land on the balls of your feet rather than your heels. This helps to reduce impact and minimize the risk of injury. Cadence: Cadence refers to the number of steps you take per minute when running. A higher cadence can help you run more efficiently and reduce the risk of injury. Breathing: Proper breathing is important when running, as it helps maintain energy and stamina. Try to breathe deeply and evenly, and avoid holding your breath. Stride: Your stride is the distance you cover with each step when running. A long stride can help you cover more ground with each step, but it can also increase the risk of injury. A shorter, quicker stride may be more efficient and safer. Techniques to improve While focusing on the fundamentals, you can incorporate the following techniques to elevate your game: Develop a training plan: elevating your running game also requires a structured training plan that includes a variety of workouts, such as long runs, intervals, and hills. This can help you build endurance and improve your speed and power. Incorporate strength training: In addition to running, try to incorporate strength training exercises into your routine. This can help to improve your running form, reduce the risk of injury, and increase your speed and power. Cross-train: Cross-training can help to improve your overall fitness and reduce the risk of overuse injuries. Consider incorporating cycling, swimming, or yoga into your training routine. Pay attention to your nutrition: Proper nutrition is essential for optimal running performance. Make sure to eat a balanced diet with plenty of carbohydrates, protein, and healthy fats to fuel your workouts and recovery. Get proper rest and recovery: It's important to get enough rest and allow your body time to recover between workouts. Make sure to get plenty of sleep and take rest days as needed. Invest in quality gear: Quality running shoes and other gear, such as comfortable clothing, can help to improve your performance and comfort when running. Seek guidance from a coach or mentor: To get to the next level, consider working with a coach or mentor who can provide you with guidance and feedback. A coach can help you develop a personalized training plan and provide tips and techniques to improve your running.

Adrenaline junkies are often fueled by their fearlessness and sense of bravery, which propels them to take risks and break limits that others don't even try to test! However, hang gliding is not the place for people like that. Unlike a lot of other sports where fearlessness can be useful, and the risks range from minor to somewhat severe injury, in hang gliding, it could be the difference between life and death. So, hang gliding calls for precaution and extensive prep, but how do you actually do it? That's what we're going to explain in today's article! Let's get into it: Tips and Tricks First off, all you need to get started is intention and commitment, and we're certain you will become an ace in no time! Hang gliding is one of those sports where if you're skeptical about the investment and commitment, you will quickly realize it was for nothing, as it's completely worth it! The two most helpful tips we have for beginners are: Relax: Bad decisions are made under pressure and anxiety. While in something like football, it could mean the difference between a goal or a miss, it could have far more severe consequences in hang gliding. Hence, being relaxed is a key part of learning and becoming better at hang gliding. The key parts where this will help you are: Recognizing the lift force and its strength Focusing forwards and controlling the glider with ease Look forward: This is opposed to looking downwards on the hill you're running down. In the case of hang gliding, this is advisable because you're not concerned with the base of the hill; you're merely on it to build up lift-off speed and eventually go forward instead of downwards. Accordingly, looking forward means you'll be better prepared to steer away from the hill once you reach lift-off velocity. The running launch process is often the hardest part for beginners to learn and master. Initially, you may find it difficult to run at speed, especially since, if the glider was not there, we would tumble down uncontrollably and seriously injure ourselves. However, you'll find that the glider and its harness work to add a counterforce to gravity; lift. This lift ensures you do not have to balance your entire wait on the steep hill; only what is manageable. Eventually, once you gain enough speed, you'll feel this counterforce get larger and larger until you have lift-off speed, and the ground disappears from under your feet. This is hands down one of the best parts of hang gliding and keeps me (and many others) coming back over and over to get the high again, literally! For our concluding advice, we cannot stress enough how important it is to A. hire an instructor or coach and B. listen to them! Further, starting with the appropriate equipment for your skill level and progressing gradually is another important factor. Lastly, as we said earlier, keep looking forward and relax! You’ll get there eventually; we have faith in you.

When getting started with horse racing, there are a few steps you can take to begin learning about the sport and getting involved. Here are some tips to get you started: Research the different types of horse racing There are many types of horse racing, including flat, steeplechasing, and harness racing. Each racing type has its rules and regulations, and different horses are suited to different disciplines. It's important to research the different types of racing and choose the one that interests you the most. Think of it as research for that college you know you wanted to go to instead of the one you settled for, which ended up being… Not what you were hoping for. Find a local racetrack or racing club Once you've decided on a type of racing, the next step is to find a local racetrack or racing club where you can watch races and learn more about the sport. When it comes to choosing a sport to play, the sky really is the limit with the number of choices you have. Some people like running around, while others like sitting or standing still with more of a focus on decision-making. When it comes to archery, you will be involved more in precision and standing still. Watching archers in movies and sports, it just sounds like a really satisfying feeling to have when you hit the target dead center in the bullseye. If you've found yourself suddenly chasing that high, you've come to the right place! Today we'll show you all you need to know to start archery. The types of bows Recurve bows: these are what you'll see being used by your favorite athletes in Olympic games and such. They feature a sleek design and are purpose-made for target shooting, though they can also be used for hunting if the user is experienced and skilled enough. These are generally considered simpler than the next type of bow: Compound bows: typically used in hunting, these bows favor power and velocity over precision. However, that is not to say that they are inaccurate, as some athletes prefer these over recurve bows for target shooting. This type of bow incorporates clever mechanics to multiply the amount of force being put into the arrow. When just starting out, there isn't really a wrong choice, but recurve bows are generally easier to learn and get better with, especially since they don't require much tinkering, and you can easily find one that fits your size. To get the perfect bow for you, recurve or compound, ask your local pro shop vendor for advice and, if possible, a custom bow fit for your needs. Shooting at the range There are many rules in place when it comes to archery, a lot of which are centered around safety which takes priority over everything else. These rules will be made clear to you when you go to your nearest range, and it is crucial for you to follow them so that neither you nor anyone around you gets hurt. Along with these rules, you'll also need to get protective gear which should be available at both the range and the pro shop if you'd like to buy your own. Apart from safety rules, making sure you have proper form is critical to shooting with precision. The importance of form extends further than just precision; it also affects your body! The improper form could put unnecessary or abnormal amounts of stress on your body, which could lead to a sprain or other injury. Lastly, always pay close attention to your bow and arrows. If your arrows are damaged, they’re not going to fly predictably and could end up hurting someone, including yourself. The same is true for your bow; its structural integrity is critical to shooting accurately, and if damaged, it's possible that the bow could break mid shot, which could seriously injure you.

Yoga and meditation are hands down the best way to get more in touch with yourself and have just a little bit of peace from the chaos of everyday life. When getting into yoga, you may have a general idea of what to do, but maybe you're not familiar with the exact form and poses you should be doing to get the best results. Well, that's exactly what we're here for! Today we're going to show you the five best yoga poses you should do daily for a healthier mind and body. Sukhasana This is one of the easiest and most popular poses in yoga, I'm all but certain you've seen it before! To do this pose, you have to sit cross-legged on your yoga mat, put your hands on your knees with your palms facing up, and try to sit as straight as you can. Try to put your weight entirely on the bones that are in contact with the ground and focus on breathing as deeply as you can. Cat-cow For this pose, we're going to be standing (or sitting) on all fours and imitating a cat or cow! The focus should be on ensuring your arms and knees are perpendicular to the ground. This should help ensure your weight is being equally spread out across your "sit-bones" (the bones making contact with the ground). Once you've got the starting position set, breath-in deeply and arch your back outwards to feel a stretch throughout your spine. Follow this up with a slow exhale and arching your back inwards while tilting your head back. Tree pose Think like a tree… Now become one! For this pose, you must stand straight with your hands pressed together as they would for prayer. Now, raise your hands above your head and balance yourself on one leg. Follow this by bending your other leg inwards and resting it on the thigh of your balancing leg. This pose may be a bit difficult to start with, but you'll be good in no time! Remember to switch legs after 30 seconds. Downward facing dog If you've ever seen a dog wake up from its slumber and have the best stretch of its life, you know exactly what we're talking about. Place both hands on your mat with your palms down for this pose and make an inverted 'V shape.' The focus should be on keeping your arms, back, and legs as straight as you can for the pose, so you get the best possible stretch. Child's pose This pose is an extension of the downward facing dog, so you can do both in a singular flowing motion. To do so, you want the rear parts of your body to essentially collapse so they're all touching each other, and your knees and feet are touching the ground. After this, bring your shoulders and head down as well so they're touching the floor, and spread your arms out far in front of you for an amazing relaxing experience.

Exercise and going to the gym are generally thought to have numerous health benefits. Many different types of gains are talked about when it comes to weight lifting, but does it actually improve your health? If you're getting into weightlifting, we have good news for you! It does actually improve your physical as well as mental well-being, and today we're going to show you how exactly that happens. Your bones get stronger If you've ever heard of osteoporosis, you know that bone health is no joke. After we turn about 30 years old, we start to lose our bone density bit by bit due to aging. Eventually, if we don't take care of our bones, this leads to the development of osteoporosis; a disease where your bones become so weak they break with stress as little as coughing or sneezing. Osteoporosis can't be detected either as it happens "silently," and weight lifting is one of your best weapons to protect against it! Better metabolism, more fat loss When you lift weights, you build fat and replace it with muscle. Muscle is an active tissue and, as opposed to fat, requires more energy to function even when you’re at rest. This means you may be burning fat despite not exercising. Another advantage of replacing fat with muscle is that muscle weighs more but takes up less space than fat. This means you’ll see yourself getting fitter despite your weight staying the same or even increasing a bit! Better mood It's been long established that exercise improves our mood, and it's no different when it comes to weight lifting. When you go to the gym, you establish a routine that makes you feel good about yourself physically and creates a mindset where you start enjoying going there and exercising. Weight lifting also improves our posture, which is particularly important for the spine when sitting down. With improvements in mood and posture, you'll also see yourself getting better quality sleep, leading to higher energy levels throughout your day! More strength Weight lifting is often synonymous with strength training; you’re building your muscles to get stronger and lift heavier weights for more and more reps. The result of this is, well, your muscles get stronger! You’re able to perform regular physical activities with ease that your peers might struggle to do, such as helping a friend move or picking up all the grocery bags in one trip (we’ve all tried it… And failed). More strength usually translates to more endurance as well since you'll need to use a smaller amount of strength to get the same amount of effort. Protects against diseases Cardio and exercise have always been associated with lowered heart disease risk, as it ensures your organs are performing at their best. In doing so, they get stronger and can better fend off diseases that plague so many people in the later stages of life. And the protection isn't only against physical diseases; your mental health improves significantly as well!

There's just no feeling out there that matches hearing the sound of all ten pins crashing against the back of the alley and getting you a strike. Bowling is one of the most popular family-friendly games and creates a ton of fun for everyone! At the same time, though, the rules can definitely seem confusing, especially for a new player, and that's exactly the problem we're here to solve today. So, let's get into it: Frames Frames are essentially the number of 'tries' you'll have at knocking down all the pins. In one game of bowling, there are ten total frames. In each frame, the player gets two turns to knock as many of the pins down as they can. If the player is able to knock all of them down in the first turn, they are awarded maximum points; a strike! However, they get a spare if they take two turns to knock the pins down. Both of these frames qualify for the bonus points rule of bowling, whereby players get a bonus amount of points on the next frame they play. In the case of a strike, the bonus points are applied to the next two bowls of the player, which reduces to one bowl if you get a spare. Something that confused me a few times, and I'm sure you've had this happen too, is when you get a strike in the 10th (last) frame, you are allowed two bonus turns. This means one player can have three total turns in the last frame if they get a strike. Through this rule, we get the maximum point limit of a bowling game at 300 points, with 12 turns and 12 strikes. Scoring When a player gets a strike, they get the maximum points and the maximum bonus, and an "X" mark shows on the scoreboard. This means they get 10 points + bonus points for the next two turns. These bonus points are awarded in the form of a multiplier; your next two scores will be multiplied by two and added to the frame in which you got a strike. If a player gets three strikes in a row, this means you can get 30 points in a single frame! If you're like me and don't score three strikes in a row often, you'll want to know how spares are scored too. When a player fails to knock all the pins down in the first turn but is able to get it in the second, the frame is scored as a spare with a "/" symbol. Unlike a strike, however, only the first ball of the next frame is counted as a bonus and added to the previous. So, if you get a strike in the next frame, your score will be 9 + 10 + 10 = 29! In terms of players, you can have a maximum of 4 on your team playing at a time, with 4 in reserve if you have a roster of 8 players.

Surfing is a water sport in which a person stands on a surfboard and rides the wave of an ocean or sea. To surf, you’ll have to paddle out to where the waves are breaking, then wait for a suitable wave to come along. When the wave approaches, you will continue paddling with your hands to catch the wave and then stand up on the surfboard as the wave carries you towards the shore. Oh, and on the way there, you must remember to have tons of fun! Physical exercise Surfing requires physical exertion, including paddling, balancing on the surfboard, and riding waves. This can help improve cardiovascular endurance and muscle strength. Paddling out to the lineup and catching waves requires upper body strength, and standing up on the surfboard and riding the wave requires core strength and leg stability. Surfing can provide a full-body workout and help improve overall physical fitness. Better mental health Surfing can help reduce stress and anxiety and improve overall mental well-being. Being in the ocean and spending time in nature can have a calming effect on the mind and provide an escape from the stresses of daily life. Improved balance and coordination Surfing requires balance and coordination to stay on the surfboard and ride the waves. Practicing these skills can help improve overall balance and coordination, which can have benefits in other physical activities and sports. Better self-confidence Learning to surf and mastering new skills can boost self-confidence and a sense of accomplishment. The feeling of riding a wave and achieving success in a new activity can be very rewarding. Making connections Surfing can be a social activity, providing an opportunity to meet new people and build friendships with others who share a passion for the sport. Many surfers enjoy the camaraderie and community that comes with surfing. Environment appreciation Many surfers are passionate about protecting the ocean and the creatures that live there. Personally, I’ve found that surfing helped foster a greater appreciation for the environment, particularly the ocean and its ecosystems within me. Many surfers are passionate about protecting the ocean and the creatures that live there, and surfing can inspire a sense of stewardship and responsibility towards the natural world. Fun and enjoyment Surfing can be a thrilling and enjoyable recreational activity that allows you to escape the stresses of daily life and connect with nature. The sense of adventure and excitement I get from being out on the ocean with nothing but my board is something that nothing compares to, and many people find the same feeling when they start! Surfing is one of the coolest and most fun activities out there, and I'm certain you'll be glad you made the decision to start it. Having read about its many benefits, I hope you're convinced now, if you weren't already, to grab your board and sprint out to your nearest beach today! I hope this guide has been helpful, and until next time, I wish you luck!

Football, basketball, and tennis are all great games, but if you're looking to challenge yourself by trying something new, there's a whole category of rare sports that the common person doesn't know. Today, we're sharing five rather unusual yet highly entertaining sports with you, so stay tuned to the end of this article!   Quidditch Potterheads, your wildest dreams have come true! Quidditch isn't just a fictional game from the magical wizarding world of Harry Potter, but it's also been invented in real-life. There's no flying involved, but the rest of the elements of the game, such as athleticism and strategy, remain. You'll need dedicated team members, a hoop, a quaffle (deflated volleyballs), three bludgers (usual footballs), and broomsticks. It's an exciting mixture of dodgeball, football, and hockey, so check it out.   Archery Archery is a sport that requires patience, strength, and precision. If that sounds like your cup of tea, it's time for you to search for the local clubs in your area and get registered. It's always a lot easier to train under a professional archer's guidance than go solo. You'll need a bow for beginners, arrows, and a target stand. As you get better over time, you'll have to upgrade your bow with an aiming sight, stabilizers, and possibly a clicker. It'd also be best to wear arm guards since the bite from the bowstring can be painful if your form is crooked.   Underwater hockey It sounds almost unreal but believes us, this is a legitimate sport played globally. The rules followed are pretty similar to regular hockey: two teams use hockey sticks to score a puck across the field into the opposing team's goal. The critical difference is that the field is a swimming pool, and the players wear diving masks and swimming garments. If you're already well-accustomed to playing hockey, you're likely to do a lot better than other beginners in playing this sport. But regardless, it's an exciting and rare game to try out.   Axe throwing We've all been in that position where we're simply in awe at movie characters chucking an axe to a target board and hitting bullseye (think of The Hunger Games!). This sport is part of legitimate competitions where players compete to see who can hit the closest to bull's-eye at a given distance. Keep in mind that this activity can be hazardous if you're left to your own devices, so make sure you have the basics down or have a trusted instructor with you when you embark on your axe-throwing journey.   Fencing One of the first sports played in the Olympics, fencing, originates from the art of swordsmanship and the need for self-defense in old times. From posture and footwork to attacking and carrying, there's a lot for you to learn if you decide to take up fencing. These were only five of the rare sports that are played globally today; there are tons more than you can find out as you delve deeper into the sports industry. Start with one sport that resonates with you, and get to it!

Table tennis seems like one of those sports that are literally too simple not to be able to play without learning or looking at a guide. However, when you actually start and especially when you play against an intermediate-level player, you quickly learn that there's more to it than meets the eye. If that is the case for you, you've come to the right place! Today, we're going to look at the best ways to learn the table tennis rules, start playing table tennis and improve as you go along.   The Grip This is the first part you must familiarize yourself with, as it defines how you will hold the racket in your hand. While this may seem like a trivial part of the learning process, it builds the base for the entirety of your table tennis learning path and is a fundamental aspect of your game. Along with your grip, you also need to master your footwork and stance, enhancing your movement and positioning and enabling you to get the best possible shot in every play. To get your grip perfect, start by holding the racket with three fingers pointing inwards (towards yourself), your index finger on the backside of the racket (away from you) and your thumb wrapping around to meet your three fingers. This is similar to a ‘shakehands’ grip and is one of the most natural yet effective ways to hold a table tennis racket.   Hitting the Ball This part will make up the majority of your gameplay as it defines how accurately and how fast you hit the ball. There are four different types of shots in table tennis: forehand drive and push, backhand drive and push. The forehand shots are when you hit the ball with the side of the racket that has your thumb and fingers on it; your forehand. As you might have guessed, the backhand shots are when you hit the ball with the back side of the racket; with your index finger on it. The forehand shots are generally going to be easier to learn as the motion is a lot more natural than the backhand shots, which require you to flip the racket around and make the motion in reverse. However, with enough practice, you'll find that even your backhand shots are as good as your forehand ones.   The Serve Learning table tennis good serve is the key to making sure you have an advantage right from the start of the play. While some serves can be really complicated and difficult to learn, a more basic one that gets you started should be easy enough to learn and even compete with intermediate players! At the same time, being able to return the serve in a match is key to keeping up with your opponent; some serves can really throw you off! Practice playing against various kinds of serves from different players at your local play area to get the hang of how they work. With that said, we're going to wrap up our guide on starting table tennis. We hope this has been helpful and wish you good luck!

Tennis is a great game to play on your weekends off with friends or community members, but it can be a bit intimidating if you need clarification on how it works. This anxiety, especially when you look at seasoned players on the court and wonder how they can play with such intensity and stamina. It's essential to keep in mind that those veteran players were once just newbies like you! They also had to start from somewhere, and today we're here to give you precisely that: an essential guide that will teach you how to play tennis. Let's get right into it.   What you'll need Aside from the resolve to learn and the will to not give up in the face of those particularly frustrating initial failures, you'll also need to spend on a quality racket and tennis shoes. Tennis rackets come in different sizes and weights, which can completely alter your performance. Since you're just starting, ensure that the racket you get has an oversized head, a light frame, and more power compared to other rackets. You'll also need to ensure that the shoes you choose are the right fit. The types of shoes can vary based on the foot size, width, ankle contact, and space available for your toes. Go for shoes that are comfortable, stable, lightweight, and durable. As you get better at the sport, you can choose your shoes in the future based on the kind of court you're playing in or your playing style.   Getting started with the game Familiarise yourself with the basics. Once you have the proper equipment, it's time to dig out some training manuals to help you on your journey. The game is played on a court where you start with a coin toss to determine who serves first and from where. There can be two or four players on the court at a time, depending on whether the match is singles or doubles. The server strikes the ball to the alternative side, and the game officially starts. To win, one team should have about four points, i.e., 15 counting as one point, 30 counting as two points, 40 counting as three points, and lastly, the fourth point would mark the winning score.    Ask an expert for help if needed. Trying to learn tennis by yourself is relatively easy, but the support of an expert coach is always a great addition. You can look into local tennis clubs in your area or ask your gym teachers to connect you with a professional tennis player if you're a student. This will also help you socialize with other players who're also passionate about wanting to improve their game. You'll be surprised at how quickly your game improves once like-minded tennis enthusiasts surround you.   Don't lose hope. And lastly, keep hope if you don't instantly get as good as Serena Williams at playing tennis! What matters is that you show up to the court daily and make the conscious choice to play and improve. If you keep these tips in mind, your game is bound to improve slowly and gradually.

Nearly everyone in the world has, at some point in their lifetime, played or at least watched some sport, be it football, basketball, tennis, baseball, etc. Why is it that humans find the idea of sports so appealing? To answer that question, we must look at what sports bring to the table.   Helps you reach your fitness goals One of the many reasons people choose sports is that it helps keep their bodies in shape. It has numerous health benefits, such as Lowering the risks of heart diseases. The human heart is one of the body's most hardworking muscles, and it must be regularly worked out to function correctly. Improving the flexibility of joints. The flexibility of joints is improved as the bones and muscles become more robust. This makes a person less injury prone. Lowering bad and increasing good cholesterol levels. Contrary to popular belief, not all cholesterol is bad; your body needs a certain amount of "good" cholesterol (HDL) to function correctly. Exercising regularly or playing sports can help you achieve that balance. Improving sleep cycles. Having a good night's sleep is responsible for deciding your mood for the day, and leading an active lifestyle can help you capitalize on the benefits of a healthy sleep cycle. Keeping a healthy weight. One of the benefits of sports that everyone wants to cash in on is a healthy outlook on the body, and with just a few hours every day, you'll be able to achieve the look you desire.   People who play sports tend to lead longer, healthier lives, which is no coincidence. If you keep your body active, then it will repay you. Improves your self-esteem Every sport, whether it is football, basketball, martial arts, or any other, requires one thing, and that is discipline. Sports teach us endurance and the ability to move forward after taking a fall. These are some of the most challenging life lessons, and playing sports helps us take these challenges head-on and prepare ourselves for what life has to throw at us. Facing these challenges by engaging ourselves in sports improves our mental toughness and allows us to reflect on the challenges we overcame. Doing this does wonder for our self-esteem, and we can become better versions of ourselves.   Improves your mental health Better self-esteem means your mental health is significantly improved, and if you start playing sports, you will notice that your mood is improved, and you'll find yourself more relaxed. This is because physical activity causes your brain to release endorphins, a chemical that relieves the built-up stress in your muscles and causes your brain to be less tense. This is why many therapists recommend their patients to exercise, as it is a much healthier way to reduce stress than antidepressants.   In Conclusion Sports have existed and thrived for centuries, and for a good reason. They offer countless benefits, including but not limited to improving your physical health, boosting your mental health, and helping you socialize. Sports can be a pathway to a happier and healthier life if you make the right choice. So what are you waiting for?

Football is a universally loved game; there's no one I know that doesn't enjoy a game of 5-a-side football in the evening with all their friends and football buddies. That said, many people out there don't quite understand the appeal, or maybe they don't really understand how the game works, which is perfectly okay! This article will explain exactly how football works and everything we believe everyone should know about ‘the beautiful game.’   How Does it Work? Despite being the most popular sport in the world, most popular are usually unfamiliar with how the sport works, especially in a professional setting with standard football rules. With that said, let's dive into how the game works: Football is played with 11 players in each team, and there are two teams on the pitch. All 22 players play simultaneously, so the pitch or field needs to be considerably big. Accordingly, the average football pitch size is 112 yards long and 70 yards wide, so there's lots of running to be done! Both teams have one goalkeeper who typically does not leave their post/position and is responsible for being the last line of defence against a goal being scored on them. The remaining ten players are called 'outfield players,' which are typically split into three sections; defenders, midfielders, and attackers. The structure of these three sections combines to create the formation of the team, which can be defender, attacker-focused, or neutral. While the roles and positions are assigned, there is no restriction on any player (including the goalkeeper) from moving to any point on the pitch, so there tends to be a lot of temporary shuffling of positions during the match. All you need to get started with football, though, is a pair of shoes (ideally football shoes) and a football! Finding a proper pitch and people to play with is always a bonus and will offer the best experience, but you'll quickly find that you don't need anyone but yourself to enjoy it! Practising by yourself, trying new dribbles and shots, passing and playing keep-up against a wall, the sky is the limit with how creative you can be! This is one of the most beautiful parts of the sport for me. While you can play alone, it's always more fun with friends and more players! In my experience, whenever I play by myself in a park or on a pitch, I'm almost always joined by nearby people that are looking to play with someone. With enough people joining like this, before you know it, you’re playing with more people on each team than the pitch allows! That wraps up our guide on everything you need to know about football and why it’s such a magical game for everyone who plays it. It truly is one of the most fun sports to play and has been the best way for me to socialize with like-minded people. We hope this has been helpful and wish you good luck with all your future sports endeavours!

Getting the proper footwear for the sport that you're playing is an important step that often gets overlooked. For example, it may seem easy and natural to play football in your favourite pair of sneakers, but you'll quickly find that this is a fast one-way ticket to ruining and even destroying the entire shoe from the extreme wear. So, what should you get instead? That's exactly what we're going to discuss today! Starting with:   For Football If football is your choice of sport, you will want cleats. However, there is more to it than that. Cleats are only viable (and allowed) if you're going to play in a field with natural grass. If the field has artificial grass or Astroturf on it, you'll want a slightly different version of the cleats suited to that specific surface (search artificial grass or turf variants for the shoe of your choice). Similarly, for indoor courts, you cannot get away with wearing cleats as not only will they damage the court floor, you will constantly be slipping about and risk injuring yourself due to a lack of grip. For these courts, you should look into IC (indoor court) football boots that look similar to a pair of sneakers but have tougher upper materials to withstand the wear.   For Basketball Basketball shoes are often as much a fashion statement as they are functional. Unlike football shoes, you will not need to pay much attention to the surface, as basketball is almost exclusively played on hard surfaces. Accordingly, you'll be fine with any pair of basketball shoes you like. Factors to consider are pricing; the higher priced ones will likely last longer and be more comfortable, and the style of the shoe; low tops and high tops. Most basketball shoes are high tops to protect the ankle of the player, but low-top versions have also been a popular choice in recent times as they offer more freedom and flexibility while also being lightweight.   For Running This is one sport where you can easily get away with your favourite pair of sneakers; it's what they were made for! When it comes to running shoes, it's hard to go wrong with any of the popular options from Adidas, Nike, Asics, and Brooks, among others. The exact choice you pick will depend on your preference. For me, I like a lot of underfoot padding (more foam) and a firm but soft fit on top. What you'll want to avoid when going running is doing it in a pair of casual wear shoes like Vans, which are not designed to run long distances in, nor do they have enough padding to keep you comfortable while you run.   For Tennis In tennis, you'll want a pair of lightweight shoes that offer flexibility without including too much foam under your foot to allow for agile movements. My favourite options in this category are the Nike Court Visions, though you can search for your preferred options as long as they meet the abovementioned requirements to enhance performance.

There's no better time to get into sports than in the summer. In fact, many major sports tournaments, like the FIFA World Cup, and the summer Olympics, which include volleyball, swimming, and basketball, are all scheduled for months like June and July. This tells us that summers are the ideal time to leave all laziness behind and enjoy an enjoyable sport. Every sport has its benefits, and needless to say, not every sport is for everyone, which is why we have combined a list of five great sports to take up in the summers, from which you can choose what suits you best.   Swimming While many of us enjoy working up a sweat on a hot summer's day, chasing after a ball, it would be an understatement to say that not everyone likes that. If this hypothetical person sounds like you, swimming should be your go-to sport this summer. Swimming can be as exhausting as you want it to be; you can swim for fun, exercise, or even competitively. It is a delightful hobby, and your heart will be all the better for it. If you want to build up stamina but don't want to run for miles in the scorching sun, then look for the nearest pool to dive in.   Beach Volleyball Beach volleyball is the only sport on this list that is played exclusively in the summers. It is slightly different from indoor volleyball as it only requires two players on each team instead of the usual six. Although you have a certain fitness level to play this game, it still has a relatively easy learning curve. Playing this game will not only improve your focus but will also help you get into better shape. As beach volleyball is a team sport, it will help you socialize with other people, and who knows, if you've got the skills for it, you might start playing in a competitive league.   Cycling Next up on our list, we've got cycling. If you need a good cardio workout, you should try cycling. It serves as a great alternative to your car for your daily commute. It will significantly help reduce your carbon footprint, so you'll be doing the environment a huge favor. Furthermore, it is very straightforward to learn and is an inexpensive hobby.   Tennis Lastly, on this list, we have the incredibly entertaining yet competitive game of tennis. Some might say that it is a challenging sport to learn, which is true, but the thrill of playing such a sport and the joy of seeing your skills build up makes all the effort well worth it.   Bottom line Whether you are trying to get into a new sport or want to start over something you took up long ago, one thing is clear: summers are the best time for such activities. Everyone should take full advantage of the clear skies and pleasant weather by learning something productive.

Basketball is a global sport that has become extremely popular since its invention in 1891. Today, Basketball is played by over 300 million people in over 200 countries and is the most popular team sport in the world. The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) regulates the game internationally, while national organizations such as USA Basketball govern it within each country.  Basketball is one of the most televised sports in the world and one of the most famous team sports in high schools and colleges throughout North America.    How is it played?  Basketball is a team sport played by two teams on a rectangular-shaped court. The real goal is to shoot a ball through a hoop high-mounted to a backboard at each end. Basketball was invented in December 1891 by Canadian-American James Naismith.  The most common position on the court is point guard, where a player controls the offense by bringing the ball upcourt and passing it to teammates. Other players in a basketball game include shooting guard, small forward, power forward, and center. Basketball is a highly fast-paced sport that requires speed, agility, quickness, and endurance from all of its players to be successful on the court.   Basic rules of the game for newbies  There are several basic rules that basketball players must abide by to be successful on the court.  First, all players must have both feet behind the three-point line when they shoot or pass the ball. Also, no player may touch the ball after it has been dribbled once - this is known as "double dribbling" and is considered an illegal move. Additionally, the offensive team has ten seconds to advance the ball past its half of the court, or else they will be called for a violation known as a "backcourt violation." The most common violations in Basketball include traveling (taking more than two steps while dribbling the ball) and shooting after time has expired.  To prevent any contact between players, the defensive team must maintain a certain distance from offensive players, known as "the three-second rule." To score points in Basketball, teams must shoot the ball into their opponent's basket. The most common way of scoring points is by throwing the ball through the opponent's basket from within the three-point line. A successful shot is worth two points, while a shot taken from behind the three-point line is taken as a three-pointer.  The teams may also attempt to shoot free throws by shooting the ball through an opponent's defensive ring without the benefit of being defended by an opposing player. If successful, these attempts are worth one point each.  Finally, a team may also score points by throwing the ball into their opponent's basket after rebounding off the backboard or rim - this is known as a "field goal."   Conclusion  Basketball is an exhilarating sport requiring speed, endurance, agility, and skill from all players on offense and defense. Regardless of your skill level, learning and practicing the game's basic rules is essential to be successful on the court. By following these simple guidelines, you can become a skilled ball player and enjoy this exciting sport for years to come!

Over a century ago, in 1891, basketball was created by Dr. James Naismith in Springfield, Massachusetts. The game has been an instant success and is now among a few of the top and most popular sports across the globe. It's been more than 100 years since its inception as a recreational sport, but many people still need to learn more about this exciting and fast-paced game.   What is Basketball?  Basketball is played on a rectangular court with two hoops at either end, surrounded by a raised rim. The game's mission is to score points by throwing or "shooting" the ball into the hoop while preventing your opponent from scoring. Players can move around the court by dribbling or bouncing the ball on the ground, shooting it ahead, or passing it to a teammate.   Why Was Basketball Invented?  James Naismith, who invented basketball, created the game as a way for his students to stay active during harsh New England winters. He wanted to create a sport that was simple and fun but required skill and precision to succeed. And he succeeded - basketball has finally become the most famous sport in the world, with millions of people tuning in yearly to watch professional games and leagues. Despite its popularity, there is still a lot that people still need to learn about basketball. For example, many need to know this exciting game's unique rules, strategies, and skills. Whether you're new to the sport or already a die-hard fan, basketball is always something to learn.    What are the original rules of the game? Dr. James Naismith himself created the original rules of basketball. These rules outlined the basic structure and gameplay of the sport, including elements such as goal scoring, fouls, and player positions. One of the most notable aspects of these original rules was their emphasis on physical fitness - they required players to be active and agile to be successful. The original rules stated that the ball might be thrown in any direction with either or both hands, but a fist could never be used.  A player was required to toss the ball from where they caught it and was not allowed to run with it.  It was against the rules for players to strike, trip, or push other competitors.  A player would be kicked out of the game until the next goal was scored if they committed a second foul.  If there were evidence that a player intended to injure an opponent, then that player would be disqualified from the game for the entirety of it.  The game consisted of two halves that each lasted 15 minutes, with a five-minute break in between each half.  The winning group was determined to be the one that scored the most goals in the specified amount of time. If a match ended in a draw, the play could continue until one of the teams scored again.   Conclusion  While basketball is a relatively simple game, players use many different strategies and tactics to outsmart their opponents. So if you're looking for some exciting action and top-notch competition, be sure to give basketball a try!

The History of Badminton Badminton is one of the fastest-growing sports in the world. It originated in India over 2,000 years ago and has a rich and exciting history. In the following article, we'll glance at the critical events in the development of badminton throughout the centuries.   What is Badminton? Badminton is one of the sports played with racquets, which requires players to hit a shuttlecock over a net while playing inside a badminton court. In most cases, it can be played as either a singles or doubles game. You can play badminton indoors or outdoors; however, most competitions at the highest levels are played inside because organizers try to minimize the impact of elements such as the wind and the lighting.   Roots of Badminton Traced Back to India  The roots of the sport can be traced back to ancient India. It is believed that a game known as battledore and shuttlecock, or 'Poona,' was played in many variations across the country. The first mention of a game resembling today's badminton came from British reports of the early 1800s when it was played by British soldiers stationed in India.   Introduction of Badminton in England  In 1873, "The Duke of Beaufort" brought the game to England, where it quickly became popular among the elite class. It was initially played inside large estates or other enclosed spaces. The rules were very similar to the modern game, although there were no net or court boundaries, and players could strike the shuttlecock with their hands. Over the next few decades, badminton grew in popularity in England. In 1893, it was officially recognized as a sport by major English sporting organizations, and shortly afterward, other countries began to take an interest in the game.   Formation of IBF  In 1934, the International Badminton Federation (IBF) was formed, and soon after that, badminton became a recognized Olympic sport. Today, it is played worldwide and continues to gain popularity thanks to its speed, athleticism, and accessibility – anyone can pick up a racket and play!   Frequently Asked Questions  Who introduced Badminton in England?  Around 1870, British army officers learned the game and brought it back to England. The Duke of Beaufort, whose country estate was known as "Badminton House" and was located in Gloucestershire, is credited with introducing this sport in 1873.    Why is badminton called badminton?  The game was named badminton after being first played in England in 1873 at a place called "Badminton House," a country estate owned by the Duke of Beaufort. Since that time, badminton has been referred to simply as "Badminton" rather than by its previous names, "Poona" and "Battledore and Shuttlecock.   How many people play badminton? According to the International Badminton Federation (IBF), there are currently over 100 million people worldwide who play badminton regularly. It is trendy in Asia and Europe but can be played anywhere, anytime, by anyone.   Conclusion  As you can see, badminton has a fascinating history that spans many centuries and countries. Whether you're already an avid player or enjoy watching the sport on TV, this article should give you a deeper appreciation of its origins and development over time.

Yoga: a brief introduction In ancient times, yoga was a practice to achieve spiritual peace. Monks and priests who followed it did so solely for its perceived philosophical & religious benefits. During those times, it was practiced by a few people in particular areas of the world. Recently, however, yoga has become an increasingly popular activity with a much larger and diverse demographic. The reasons cited by these “yogis” are just as diverse.   The conflict Two thousand years ago, no one did yoga for its physical benefits. Things are not the same today. Gyms across the country offer yoga classes or memberships, which are being rebranded as a fitness activity. This has complicated matters, with little consensus on what yoga is classified as. While there is no doubt that it used to be merely a religious or spiritual practice, today, it is much more than that. Many argue that since it has a more physical focus, it should be classified as a Sport. Others, however, argue that yoga’s uncompetitive nature pushes it out of the realm of sport.   The consensus One must first elaborate on what “sport” really means to understand and solve this issue. According to most dictionaries, sport is “an athletic activity requiring skill or physical prowess and often of a competitive nature.” No, don’t go back to reread it! We’re here to break it down for you, and we’ll do so by dividing it into three parts. The first part argues that a sport must be an athletic activity. This means that much like basketball or football, yoga’s focus must be on the physical aspects over the mental. Yoga does fulfill that requirement, and if you want to disqualify yoga for not being physical enough, you will also have to disqualify Chess. Since Chess is recognized globally as a sport, yoga should be too. After all, you can’t do yoga mentally, can you? The next part elaborates that the activity must require skill or physical prowess to be considered a sport. Yoga fulfills this pretty quickly. Have you ever tried yoga? The positions are complex, and the techniques needed to hold them could go over an amateur’s head. The complexity of yoga also qualifies it across the second part of the definition. The last part, and probably most difficult, is that sports if OFTEN of a competitive nature. This is an aspect where yoga cannot win since there are no winners or losers in yoga. Since most sports are competitive, you can’t blame those who argue yoga should not be a sport since it is not competitive. The answer to whether yoga is a sport will be argued upon for many years. One must recognize both arguments, but we cannot deny that yoga is catching on very quickly among people. Whether you recognize it as a sport or not, one thing is sure: Yoga is here to stay.
