St Kilda Boat Club

The St Kilda Boat Club was founded in 1964 as the The St Kilda Boatowners' Association. It catered for small power boats that could negotiate the then very shallow St Kilda channel, which leads to the Barker Inlet. Over the years, the channel was deepened, originally by pick and shovel. A clubhouse was established in an old Nissen hut. In recent years, the Salisbury council greatly improved the channel for the benefit of users of its public boat ramp and also for the benefit of the club. Today the club caters for vessels of up to about 1.8 metres draft, though the tide must still be monitored before entering or leaving.
Some members are keen kayakers, but the club does not operate small sailing dinghies or catamarans, because of the lack of a beach.
The St Kilda channel gives access to the Barker Inlet, which in turn leads to Gulf St Vincent. The waters of the inlet are suitable for shallow draft craft and for fishing and crabbing. There is informal yacht racing, under a handicap system.

ACDC is Adelaide's and the World’s Coolest Dragon Boat Club. We can’t prove it of course, but ask our members and they’ll tell stories of a club which has grown into a home.
Our club prides itself on the supportive family environment which forms our foundation. Sure, we hit the water to train and race hard, but at the end of the day, its all about sharing, laughing, and enjoying the journey along the way.
From humble beginnings the club has grown, but never forgotten why we paddle. For the love of paddling and spending time on the water with our mates.

Christies Sailing Club (CSC) was founded in 1958 and has steadily grown to be known as one of the friendliest clubs in South Australia. Former Junior Sailors have gone up through the ranks to become national title holders in several classes. The club's members have travelled far and wide throughout the country attending many major regattas, often bringing home the trophies.
Located on the Esplanade at Christies Beach, the club has excellent facilities that include a licensed bar, fully equipped kitchen, change rooms and a view that is one of the best in the state.
The club has embraced the future of sailing by including a fleet of O'Pen Bic skiffs in its junior sailing program as well as securing a hardstand facility at nearby O'Sullivan Beach Boat Ramp where trailerable yachts and sports boats can be stored with masts up for short rigging time to get on to the water.

Glenelg Yacht Club

Glenelg Yacht Club is new, having only been established in 2019.
But don’t let the fact we are a new club fool you… our members have a world of experience, with varied pasts such as commercial fishermen, long distance solo sailors, Sydney to Hobart “old hands” and much more. It is not so much about the age of a club that makes it great, it is the members that make it special.
Many of our yachts have circumnavigated the globe, and the lessons learned from those experiences are a wealth which adds to the rich tapestry that makes Glenelg Yacht Club special.
Our members range from “I just bought it” owners right through to “I have been sailing for 60 years”.
It is this wide range of experience and the wealth of knowledge that comes with that experience that new boat owners and members find invaluable.
Glenelg Yacht Club has been described as “salt of the earth people”, who are always happy to lend a hand or offer some words of wisdom (whether you want them or not often!) to save you from making expensive mistakes.
Whether you are an old hand or a total newbie with a small trailer-sailer, you will always be made to feel welcome at Glenelg Yacht Club! Our inaugural Commodore was Robyn Greening, and with 40% of our membership being female… we not only believe in equality, we actually enact it! This is not a “boys club”.
