Dawn Morse, director of Core Elements Training, demonstrates several variations of the Seated Spinal Twist stretch which is great for increasing spinal mobility and reducing lower back pain whilst reducing daily stress through relaxing the mind.
This stretch is also great for improving digestion, through compressing and stretching the stomach region.
Seated Spinal Twist is an excellent way to mobilise the spine through rotational movement. This relaxing stretch can help to reduce tension within errector spinea muscle group and wider muscles within the lower back, including the Quadratus Lumborum (QL).
This is an excellent stretch for generalised back pain suffers and can be advised by sports massage therapists for clients with back pain.
This is also a yoga based mobility and restorative stretch which is great to include at the beginning of a class or 1-2-1 session. But can also be used when intensity is lowered.
This stretch is an example of one of the techniques covered in Core Elements Online Clinical Yoga CPD course, which is available to therapists at Level 3 and above, who would like to offer yoga based stretches within their clinical work, or as a 1-2-1 clinical yoga session.
An ideal CPD course for Sports Massage therapists, Sports Therapist, Physiotherapists, Yoga teachers, Athletic Trainers etc.
