It is said that an athlete dies twice…One when he retires from his sport and the other when his heart stops beating. In college, I won the award for "Most Likely to Still Swim at 90 Years Old." I was obsessed with swimming. Being an introvert, swimming was my favorite excuse not to go to parties. But in the pool I became more extroverted than the extroverts. I wanted to go to the Olympics and stand on the top of the podium. I worked hard to achieve my goal. Now I know that even though I was very committed, I didn't give it my all. I realize that although I was obsessed, there were swimmers much more obsessed than me. Winning was ONE of the most important things to me in swimming. But not the most important. It showed in the way I trained, competed and had fun in the water. That's why my teammates knew that I would never retire. Until I did.Our dry-land channel:https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCMx5IKVnc7RfNCs2TyjoLuwSwimming camps:https://skillswimming.com/swimming-camp/If you like swimming, you will like our webpage:https://skillswimming.com/swimming/Our favorite Amazon products:http://bit.ly/SkillsNAmazonInstragram:https://www.instagram.com/skillsntalentsFacebook:https://www.facebook.com/SkillsNTalentsThanks for watching!Swim fast!00:00 - An athlete Dies Twice00:51 - I- Swim forever01:43 - II- Why do the pros hate swimming?04:01 - III- Pain or discomfort?06:23 - IV- Balanced Body12:23 - V- Finite vs infinite goals15:01 - VI- How to fight against the three monsters?Sources:YouTube.com/NHK WORLD-JAPANTakashi Hayashi https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8jBbWdpHWYkhttps://mobile.twitter.com/tokyo2020/status/1384080417393836039The pectoralis minor- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PV1LF9-6epQhttps://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/23945068/ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8346035/https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3435931/https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/35196648/https://www.yourswimlog.com/do-swimmers-get-injured-more-often-than-other-athletes/#:~:text=4.00%20injuries%20per%201000%20exposures,per%201000%20exposures%20for%20womenhttps://www.wondriumdaily.com/physical-and-psychological-pain-the-case-of-hurt-feelings/#:~:text=Pain%20has%20two%20components%3A%20a,after%20an%20experience%20of%20pain.https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2952112/https://www.quora.com/Which-is-worse-physical-pain-or-emotional-painhttps://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK448120/#:~:text=Latissimus%20dorsi%20works%20collaboratively%20with,arm%20at%20the%20glenohumeral%20joint.https://www.yourswimlog.com/5-things-michael-phelps-taught-swimming-success-life/#:~:text=Phelps'%20main%20goal%20in%20the,every%2Dfour%2Dyears%20sport.https://www.atgonlinecoaching.com/ https://uncommonsuccess.com/Reverse Out Knee Pain… For Shouldershttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ieNWgx5vz2Ahttps://youtube.com/shorts/i9PcCvnnzVc?feature=sharehttps://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK448120/#:~:text=Latissimus%20dorsi%20works%20collaboratively%20with,arm%20at%20the%20glenohumeral%20joint.90-year-old man swims from Asia to Europe every yearhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l4DhqLDkdHIATG Sensei's Structural Balancehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Za4wLKYGFsQWhat is Structural Balance and How Do You Apply It?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u86FEzh4hq8https://www.poliquingroup.com/portals/0/pdf/structuralstoryhires.pdfStructural Balance 101 - Whiteboard Wednesdayhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6LYwfElQvpw
