Dawn Morse, director of Core Elements Training, demonstrates Cat-Cow mobility stretch for increasing spinal mobility.
Cat-Cow is an excellent way to mobilise the spine through the movements of flexion and extension, whilst helping to reduce tension within errector spinea muscle group and wider muscles within the back. Whilst in spinal extension this stretch helps to stretch the abdominal area.
This is an excellent strech for any generalised back pain suffers and can be advised by sports massage therapists for clients with back pain.
This is also a yoga based mobility stretch which is great to include at the beginning of a class or 1-2-1 session. But can also be used when intensity is lowered.
This stretch is an example of one of the techniques covered in Core Elements Online Clinical Yoga CPD course, which is available to therapists at Level 3 and above, who would like to offer yoga based stretches within their clinical work, or as a 1-2-1 clinical yoga session.
An ideal CPD course for Sports Massage therapists, Sports Therapist, Physiotherapists, Yoga teachers, Athletic Trainers etc.
Plus, his is an example of some of the stretching techniques covered in Core Elements accredited, Level 4 Sports Massage Diploma, which is available as a face to face, and bended learning course, at our training centre in Swindon, Wiltshire (UK).
Core Elements Training delivers a range of accredited Sports Massage and Sports Therapy based qualifications and short courses.
