The Houghton Districts Football Club is a small football community located in the picturesque Adelaide Hills.
The Houghton Districts Football Club (formerly Banksia Park Old Scholars 1983 - 95) was formed at the Tea Tree Gully Hotel by three old school mates. Since its inception the club has won five premierships - 1984, 85, 86, 1999 and 2018 and produced many great players, winning several Association Best & Fairest Awards and leading goal kickers.
The Houghton Football Club was formed in 1915 and after moving through five different associations, merged with neighbouring Paracombe in 1980 to form Para Houghton. The new club lasted only three years and disbanded at the end of 1982 due to a shortage of players. The Houghton Oval was then taken up by the newly formed Banksia Park O.S. who played there in the S.A.A.F.L. and in 1995 changed its name to Houghton Districts. To this day, Houghton Districts Football Club is home to many Banksia Park Old Scholars.
Houghton Districts Football Club now boasts three Senior teams and seven Junior teams, competing in the Adelaide Footy League and the SANFL Juniors Competition.
