Jamaica has accumulated a total of 87 Olympic medals, with 26 of them being gold. The majority of these medals, 86 to be precise, were earned in the realm of track & field athletics, a testament to the country's prowess in sprinting disciplines.
One of Jamaica's most celebrated athletes is Usain Bolt, who achieved remarkable success by winning gold in the 100 meters, 200 meters, and anchoring the victorious 4Γ—100 meter relay teams at the 2008, 2012, and 2016 Olympics. Bolt concluded his Olympic career with an impressive tally of eight medals, all of which were gold. He is closely followed in the gold medal count by sprinter Elaine Thompson-Herah, who boasts six Olympic medals, five of them gold. Bolt's medal count is equaled by his compatriots Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Veronica Campbell-Brown, both of whom have also secured eight medals, with three of them being gold.
There are many more athletes to watch out for. Stay tuned for #Paris2024, where Jamaica is set to once again make a significant impact in the world of athletics events.
